Today is the day the baby will come!  They are upping my induction to today!  I am so happy about it.  I had contractions 10 minutes apart for 12 hours yesterday.  I woke up this morning feeling like someone had beat me up.  I am still having contractions every once in a while.  Nothing too intense or anything, but I can feel them.

Apparently not.

It all started Saturday afternoon.  Daniel and I went for a ride in the Baja.  You know, exploring, bumpy roads.  (I figured that I would be just fine, seeing as how we took the Toyota out on many bumpy rides trying to get Abbie out and it didn't do anything.  It did just the opposite.  It stopped the contractions.)  Well, I started having contracts.  Nothing regular or too bad, but they continued through out the rest of the evening.  I was getting hopeful.  No such luck.  Sunday and Monday were about the same.  Pretty strong contractions, but nothing regular or too strong.  Then last night, I had one so strong that it woke me up.  Yeah, that was the only one.  I had hoped to wake up Daniel with the famous movie line, "It's time."  Oh well.  Nothing all day today, until about 6pm.  But still nothing regular enough or strong to send me into "real" labor.  I just wish this kid would figure out if she wants to come out or stay in.  Oh well, she'll be out next week whether she wants to be or not.  I kind of think that I won't make it to next week, but who knows.  I can't believe that soon we're going to have another little one in our family.  Crazy!

3 weeks to go!  Very excited.  I went to the dr yesterday.  I get to start getting cervical checks every week.  (How fun!)  Anyways, I'm 1cm dilated and 50% effaced.  Now that could mean something or it could mean nothing, in terms of how far off labor is.  It does mean that all those annoying braxton hicks are doing something.  And, I'm that much closer to having the baby.  Hopefully I will have this baby soon, but I'm not holding my breath.  Actually, I was a little surprised that there was any progress.  I was hoping there was, but wasn't counting on it.  One thing that has happened from finding out about my "progress" is that I have decided that I should probably start getting things ready for the baby and I probably should pack my hospital bag.  So, the car seat is ready.  I'm going to wash some baby clothes later today.  I'll have Daniel get the baby bedding out of the attic and wash that tomorrow.  I don't know when I'll pack my hospital bag, probably next week.   I was teasing Daniel Wednesday night that I would get to my appointment and they would send me straight to the hospital and he would have to get everything together and come.  The car seat cover was washed and in the laundry room, but the actual car seat was in Emily's closet.  The baby clothes were still in a box in Abbie's closet.  And, my stuff was still in my drawers and bathroom.  I have no diapers.  I think I might have a half a pack of wipes somewhere.  (No worries though.  I just ordered some diapers and wipes online and they should get here on Wednesday.)  Lest you think that I am totally slacking and unprepared, let me tell you my plan.  With Abbie, I had everything ready at 6 or 7 months and then the wait was so long!  (It didn't help that she was 5 days late.)  So I figured if I wait until the last few weeks to get ready, the baby will come early and catch me unprepared.  I'll let you know how that turns out.

Other news...

Karlie and Abbie started school on Monday.  They start 20 minutes earlier than last year, so that's a little bit of an adjustment, especially for me.  They are liking it so far.  They have good teachers and I think that they will have a good year this year.  Sorry that I don't have more exciting news.  They've only been in 4 days.

4 Weeks Left and Van News PDF Print E-mail

I'm down to having only 4 weeks left (28 days)!!!  Can you tell I'm very excited?  I've been having Braxton Hicks quite often, but not regularly.  And, I've developed an excruciating rib pain on the right side.  It's not a foot in the ribs either.  I've had those and know what they feel like.  It will usually show up towards the end of the day and it just kills.  Two nights ago I didn't sleep very well because of it.  So, I looked it up on the internet and found that other pregnant ladies have it to and it is helped by using a heating pad.  Last night, while Daniel and I watched the Olympics, I decided to give it a try.  I slept so good last night.  And I didn't feel it all day today, until around 4:30pm.  Other pregnancy complaints include, fat feet and having to pee all the time.  I'm down to wearing flip flops when I'm out and about, bare feet around the house, and a pair of ballet flats to church.  You just don't wear flip flops to church, in my opinion.

In van news, the evil minivan has gotten an extension on it's life with the Omers.  It passed smog on Wednesday and will be with us another year.

Well, it's finally done it. I am officially ticked off at my minivan. So, here's the story. My van registration expires on Friday, so last week I took it to get the required smog. It FAILED the smog test. Apparently, you won't passed smog if your check engine light is on. You can not imagine how livid I was at the stupid thing and at the DMV. My van does not visibly smoke or let off foul smelling exhaust, unlike some of the cars I see everyday driving around town. But, no, my van failed smog and supposedly I have to take it to an "authorized repair shop." Just what I needed to do this month, spend $500 at a repair place to fix a stupid problem with a vehicle that I would get rid of in an instant if I had the money to buy my dream vehicle. Anyways, I get home and tell Daniel. He's just as fed up with the van as I am. So, I look up the error codes that the smog place so nicely gave me and also how to fix it. Apparently, it's a common problem with Ford Windstar van. Nice. Enter my hero husband. He spent today fixing the problem (hopefully). We are waiting for the van to finish running it's diagnostic tests. I've been praying all day that it will fix the problem. I really don't need the extra aggravation of dealing with a misbehaving vehicle. I just want to smog the stupid thing (and have it pass) and re-register it.

7 Weeks and Counting! PDF Print E-mail

I have 7 weeks left (give or take a few days, seeing as due dates are just a guesstimate)!  I had another doctor appointment yesterday.  Everything looks good.  I did talk to my Dr. about the fact that he will be on vacation the week that I'm due.  He told me we had two options.  Option #1: I could be induced before he left, about a week early.  Yeah!  Option #2: I could just cross my legs until he gets back on the 21st.  I am pretty sure that I want Option #1.  Abbie was induced and it was the most fabulous thing in the world.  I wasn't in pain on the way to the hospital.  I had time to make sure I had everything I needed.  I didn't have to wonder, "Is today the day?".  It was my fastest delivery.  You know, the baby could just throw in Option # 3, coming early without induction.  That would be great too.  I actually would prefer that.  I know that they say it isn't good to be medically induced because it increases your chances for complications, etc.  So, I found this e-book (www.maternityacupressure.com) that claims to put you into labor naturally using acupressure.  I am seriously considering asking for it for my birthday.  They tell you not to use it before 39 weeks, so that would be perfect for me.  I guess applying pressure to certain points releases stuff that's supposed to put you into labor.  For $30, I say let's go for it!
