Whitney is in a big girl bed now!  Last night was the second night she slept in it.  She told me today that she wants her crib back, but I don't think that's going to happen.  The first night was just how I thought it would be.  She got out of bed about 5 times before she finally stayed in and went to sleep.  She did just great last night.  It helped that she was really tired.  Although, I was woken up about 4:30am to her crying and calling for me.  I went in to comfort her and she was not in her bed.  I looked down and her feet were sticking out from under her bed.  So, I pulled her out and loved her.  Not quite sure how she made it most of the way under her bed.  After she calmed down, I laid her back in bed.  I told her I had to go to the bathroom and I would be right back to check on her.  (I really did have to go to the bathroom and that's my favorite trick to get her to lay down and not freak out because I'm leaving.)  When I came back, she was asleep.  Problem solved.  Now she just needs to be potty trained.  Any takers?

First, let me start with this.  Lest you think that I just go to dealerships and buy a new car willy nilly.  I had been saving up for a while and we had sold the van about 2-3 weeks before.  And, I had been doing research on what I wanted, but let's face it what I really wanted was what I got.  (I'm spoiled.  I know.)  So, Happy early Birthday to me!

Onto the updating from the summer.  We finished school the end of June.  Oh how wonderful it was to be done and just relax.  I relaxed all summer, and was not too excited for school to start again.  I have to say, even though I am stressed some days, I have really been enjoying the new school year.  Karlie and Abbie are pretty good independent workers, Emily is getting to where she can do more on her own, and Whitney FINALLY will play by herself.  That was the biggest challenge last year.

Karlie went to Girls Camp for the first time this year.  I wasn't planning on going because I couldn't leave Whitney for that long.  (She is VERY attached to me.)  Then a month before Girls Camp, they go and release me from Young Womens.  I was very sad to leave and still miss it sometimes.  So, I was calling free for a month or two.  Then the Stake goes and decides to make a new ward and take part of our ward.  We only lost about 115 people, but it seems like we lost a lot more.  Maybe it's because Daniel lost about 1/2 of his Young Men, the Primary Presidency lost both counselors, and we lost quite a few other people that had callings.  So fast forward about two weeks later, I was called into the Bishop's office to be given the calling of 1st counselor in Primary.  I haven't been in Primary primary for about 8 years.  I did nursery a couple years back, but not Primary.  Abbie was in Nursery when I was last in Primary.  Wow I feel old.  So far so good though.  It's just so different.  And, we have primary first at 1pm because we are on a 4 ward schedule, so the kids are a little wound up.  Sundays are very tiring for me.  That's it for the updates.

I had a birthday just recently.  It was a very relaxing birthday.  My mom came in the day before to do some shopping and we went out to lunch, just me and her.  So nice.  For my birthday, I got to sleep in.  Daniel and the girls made breakfast.  We had Mushroom and Cheese Omelettes,  Hash browns, Bacon, Toast, and Orange Juice.  They all cleaned up after breakfast, and I got a foot rub.  It was very nice. I wish I got more of those.  (HINT...HINT...daughters who are reading this.)  They all had to go pick something up, so they left me home alone.  I did what any mom would do.  I took a nap.  After they got home, we went and got lunch from Sonic.  After lunch, we watched a movie and I rested on the couch.  I played the Wii (the 2 games I'm sort of good at), while everyone else watched.  It was a nice change.  Then they started getting stuff ready for dinner and my party.  They made me dinner.  Daniel grilled some very delicious steaks, Karlie made some yummy potatoes, Abbie made my most favorite fruit salad ever-Fruit cocktail mixed into whipped cream, Emily made some vegetables, and Whitney made the punch.  So good!  After dinner, they cleaned up and then we partied.  We played games and opened presents.  And then we had cake and ice cream.  After we were all done, it was time for the girls to go to bed.  It was a great birthday!  The next day, my mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and I went out to lunch and frozen yogurt.  It was a fun time.

This morning as Whitney and I went downstairs for breakfast, we passed Karlie and Abbie's room  As we passed, Whitney called out, "Hello Miss Abbie.  Good Morning Miss Karlie." I will sometime call them Miss Abbie and Miss Karlie.  She picked up on that and used it.  She picks up so much!  And she talks so much now too.  Sometimes I will ask her a question, like "Why are you so cute?" and she will answer me with, "Cuz."

Wow!  I hadn't realized it has been so long.  Well, there is lots on things to catch up on....we finished school, Karlie went to girls camp, Whitney talks all the time, Abbie turned 10, we sold our van, a new ward was made in our stake with part of our ward, I got a new calling, I got my braces off, I got a new car.

Let's start with the most exciting, for me.  I had a great week this week.  Well, the first part was ok.  I was feeling off and just kind of grumpy Monday and Tuesday.  But Wednesday morning I went to the orthodontist for my appointment.  I knew I might be getting my braces off, but I wasn't too hopeful.  I had been told two other times that I would be getting my braces off and my teeth were just not ready yet.  So, I was so happy when the dr said that they would really be coming off.  Yeah!  5 1/2 years since I started and they are finally gone.  2 of my 4 kids don't remember me without braces.  3 out of my 4 siblings have pictures of me at their weddings with braces.  Sad, but true.  But, my teeth look really good now.  That was Wednesday.  Thursday, Daniel and I went out to dinner to celebrate my braces free teeth.  Afterwards, we decided to swing by the Subaru dealership to look at the Tribecas I had seen on the dealership's website.  Long story short, I drove home that night in my early birthday present, a 2010 Tribeca Limited.  Yeah!  Love it, love it, love it!

I've run out of time, so you will have to wait until later to hear about the rest.

Is It Time To Potty Train? PDF Print E-mail

I think it may be time to start thinking about potty training.

This morning after Whitney's and my shower, I went into the bedroom to grab a diaper for Whitney.  When I came back (5 seconds later), she pointed to the floor a few feet away and said, "Pee, pee."  Sure enough.  She had peed on the floor.

She will also come to me and say, "Poop."  When asked if she pooped, she will deny it, even though she really did.

I am not looking forward to potty training again.

She talks!  Whitney is such a talker now.  Not quite able to carry on a conversation, but she can let you know what she wants.  She is now able to say every family member's name.  She had a little trouble saying Karlie, but she finally got it, at least enough that we could tell she was saying Karlie.

Here are the words she says:  Mom, Mama, Mommy, Dad, Daddy, Abbie. Emily (nenlulee), Karlie (larlie), Whitney (nitney), hot dog (hotdaw). hot, candy (nany), book (bu), boo, kitty (titty), nose (no), NO, ear, cheese (chee), Bob, baby, that (dat).  I'm sure there are other words, but that's all I can think of right now.

She also will put her finger on her mouth and make a sss sound when daddy is on the phone in his office.  When someone is sleeping she will make a "snoring" sound.  She makes a "woo woo" sound for dog, "neigh" for horse, and meows and growls.  She also loves to pretend that she's a horse.  She will crawl around and say "neigh" and will rear up and wave her "hooves" in the air.  She has on occasion said no no. while wagging her finger.  And her favorite thing to do is honk your nose.

Is it a bad thing when one of your child's first words is "nany"?  (Candy)
